Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I tell my team members to park?
Parking is available at the Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and if necessary, street side in the Park Hill neighborhood just east of the park. Parking can be accessed by entering the park on Colorado Blvd. and 23rd Avenue. See overview map.

When should I tell my team members to arrive at the park?
There is so much to do at the walk. We recommend that your team arrives no later than 8:00am. Registration tent, pancake breakfast and shuttle service begins at 7:00am. Team photos begin at 7:30am and pre-walk entertainment begins at 8:00am.

When should I turn in donations on walk day?
Team captains and other participants will need to turn in donations at the registration tent before 9:00am in order to be counted toward team totals. General walk donations will be accepted throughout the day.

Does the walk happen rain or shine?
Yes. While we hope that it does not rain on our parade, we will host the walk regardless of weather.

What should I bring to the walk?
Bring any donations you have yet to turn in, lawn chairs, a tent if you would like to sit in the shade (please observe the no staking rule), a cooler of goodies (just in case), blankets to sit on and a great attitude!

How are funds raised at the walk used?
All money raised (after expenses) goes to MHDSA and stays in Colorado! Proceeds fund our vital programs and services to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families.

What types of food and beverages will be served?
A free pancake breakfast is available to all registered participants beginning at 7am.  A variety of third party vendors will be present to sell lunch items.

Are grills allowed at the park?
Yes, grills are allowed as long as they are at least 24 inches off the ground, they are not used on picnic tables, and they are properly extinguished after use.

Can I bring my own tent to the walk?
All teams are welcome to participate in the team village. Tents may be set up on the day of the walk or on Saturday, September 24 between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Tent location will be determined by a first come, first served basis.

Team Captains are responsible for bringing their own tents. Staking is not allowed in City Park. It is recommended that Team Captains bring weights such as sand bags to secure tent(s).

Overnight security will be provided, however Team Captains are encouraged not to leave cash, checks or valuables overnight. MHDSA cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of property.
