My Beloved
Son and Teacher - By Jeanette
Cordova
To
explain how my son inspires me I
need to back track just a bit to
myself as a young adult. I was one
of those gals that said, "I
will never marry and never have children". So
what did I do? I got married and
had a child. The marriage didn't
last but what came out of my marriage
was life changing.
My pregnancy was amazing! I can't
express how much I truly enjoyed
being pregnant.
My son, Tait Graham Davis, was born
at 6 a.m. on a Wednesday morning
in the spring of 2002, after
24 hours of labor. He was full term
and weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces. My
life has never been the same!

Over the next couple of years Tait
had heart surgery, had his tonsils
out, and fought a bout of RSV. Throughout
all this, my son was a happy, endearing
and active child. He still is!
Tait is an amazing and resilient
5 year old boy now! He is definitely
not the child that doctors told us
he would be. He is, for lack of a
better way to say it, a "typical" child
in every sense of the word. He has
surpassed many of the goals that
we were told he might never achieve.
He learned sign language, he overcame
some eating issues, his language
skills improve daily, and he is potty
trained. Just a couple of weeks ago
he mastered riding a tricycle.
He has redefined my values and my
sense of purpose. He encourages me
with his ways to be a better human
being; he has helped me understand
that there is so much more to life.
He has shown me how important family
and friends can be but has helped
me weed out the riff-raff in my life
that was weighing me down. He also
made it possible for me to see the
many amazing people that I have in
my life. He is my angel on this earth
and my guiding light.
I look at him playing or sleeping
and my heart feels so full. I have
learned to live each day to the fullest,
never going without counting my blessings,
letting go of anything that others
have said or done that I didn't quite
like or understand, and have a greater
sense of self and peace in my soul.
