Community Groups

Mile High Down Syndrome Association has several community groups that meet on a monthly basis. The goal of the community groups is to help parents meet with other families to connect, share resources, and provide mutual support.

Aurora Community Group – Dates and times fluctuate. Please call (303) 797-1699 for more information.

Castle Rock Community Group
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Location: Call (303) 797-1699 for more information.
Focus: Parents whose child with Down syndrome is between birth and 7 years of age.
Meeting Day: Meets 2nd Friday of the month

Denver Area Community Group-Español - "Grupo el Cromosoma del Amor"in collaboration with El Grupo VIDA and PASCO (All ages)
Time: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Call (303) 797-1699 for more information.
Focus: Spanish-speaking parents of children with Down syndrome of all ages.
Meeting Day: Fourth Saturday of every month.

Denver Metro Grandparents and Extended Family Group
Location: MHDSA offices
Time: 9:30am to 11:30am
Focus: Grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends who want to learn how to support each other and celebrate their loved ones with Down syndrome.
Meeting Day: Third Saturday of every month at: The MHDSA offices, conference room, 3515 South Tamarac Drive, Denver 80237, suite 320.

Meeting Day: First Friday of every month.
Longmont/Boulder Area Community Group
Time: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Call (303) 797-1699 for more information.
Focus: Parents whose child with Down syndrome is between birth and 18 years of age.
Meeting Day: Third Friday of every month - January through May
No meeting in July or August
Third Friday September and October
No meeting in November
Holiday gathering in December (date TBD).

Longmont Area Grandparents/Extended Family Community Group
Time:
Meeting time fluctuates.

Focus: Grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends who want to learn how to support each other and celebrate their loved ones with Down syndrome.
Meeting Day: Meets first Monday of every month.

Loveland/Ft. Collins Area - "Northern Colorado Circle of Friends"
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Focus: Parents in Weld and Larimer Counties whose child with Down syndrome is between 5 and 12 years of age.
Meeting Day: Second Saturday of every month.

Montrose Area/Western Slope Community Group
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: To be announced.
Focus: Families with children of all ages are welcome.
Meeting Day: Second Saturday of every month.

Northeast Colorado Chapter
Serving Sterling, Twin Buttes, Wray, Brush, Crook, Atwood, Akron, Otis, Ovid, Sedgwick, Julesburg, and Merino. Focus: Birth – 18 years old. Please call 303-797-1699 for more information.
Northwest Colorado Community Group
Northwest Colorado Community Group including Routt, Moffat, Grand, Jackson and Rio Blanco counties. Ages birth to 18. This group meet 3-4 times a year. Stay tuned for further details.
North Metro Area/Broomfield/Thornton/Northglenn/Henderson/Brighton
Meets: 1st Saturday of each month from 1-3 p.m.

Additional MHDSA Groups

DS-Autism Connection - Offered in collaboration with the Denver Adult Down Syndrome Clinic (DADSC) and the Autism Society of Colorado (ASC).

Focus: Providing support, education, resources and inspiration to families, health care providers, teachers and community support persons who provide care and services to individuals with Down syndrome and autism/complex behaviors.

Aging Issues Action Group - In Collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association and the Denver Adult Down Syndrome Clinic

Focus: Parents and extended family members of adults with Down syndrome and aging issues.
